KDA's grand operation against illegal constructions and encroachments continues in Surjani Town.
Following the instructions of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Estate and Enforcement Department of the Karachi Development Authority has launched a full-scale operation against illegal constructions and encroachments on more than 100 acres of government land in Sector 10 and 13 of Surjani Town. On the first day of the operation, more than 25 acres of government land were recovered, including various booking offices in addition to unbuilt and unbuilt structures. The entire operation is being supervised by Director Estate and Enforcement Shakeel Ahmed Khan. During the operation, fierce resistance was faced by miscreants, protesters pelted stones and opened heavy fire, due to which the staff of the Estate and Enforcement Department faced difficulties. However, the operation continued with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies. Director General Karachi Development Authority Asif Jan Siddiqui has reiterated his resolve that indiscriminate action against the squatter mafia and encroachments will continue and no illegal occupation or encroachment will be allowed on KDA land under any circumstances. It is worth noting that a few days ago, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah regarding the elimination of encroachments, in which representatives of the police and other law enforcement agencies participated. It was decided in the meeting that effective anti-encroachment operations will be taken in Surjani Town and other sectors from May 13, 2026. It was emphasized in the meeting that demolition operations will continue continuously to completely clear Surjani Town of encroachments. According to the State and Enforcement Department, a few mischievous elements cannot demoralize the Karachi Development Authority. KDA has been carrying out successful anti-encroachment operations in Surjani Town for the past several years, while thousands of acres of valuable KDA land has been reclaimed from various areas and security measures have also been implemented.
