Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, along with Director General KDA Zainul Abideen Ansari, visited the major development projects underway in Karachi’s Scheme 33, Malir Memon Goth and adjoining areas and reviewed the progress of road construction and other schemes.

On this occasion, DG KDA Zainul Abideen Ansari and the concerned officials gave a detailed briefing to the provincial minister regarding the ongoing work on various projects, completion period, cost and construction progress. Officials said that the construction of an 11.54 km long road is underway in Malir Memon Goth, with an estimated cost of Rs 1428 million. The construction work on the project was started in February 2026 and the target is to complete it in 24 months. The width of the road is 7.3 meters while the project also includes a 125-meter long flyover. This road is being constructed from the expressway through Malir River Road, the completion of which will provide better connectivity to Malir Memon Goth and surrounding areas with the main highways. The Minister of Local Government was informed in a briefing on the ongoing development projects in Scheme 33 that the construction of four major roads is underway, while the estimated cost of the construction of a 24-kilometer long two-lane road is Rs 1987 million and about 70 percent of the project has been completed. Efforts are being made to complete the project before the scheduled time. DG KDA Zainul Abideen Ansari, while giving a briefing, said that the network of roads under construction in Scheme 33 will further improve connectivity with the M-9 Motorway and Super Highway, while the width of the road to be constructed from Mehran Road to the Link Road is 10 meters, in addition, the construction of Madras Road, Rumi Road and Sachal Sarmast Road to the Link Road is also underway. The completion of these projects will provide better travel facilities to millions of citizens living in Scheme 33 and adjacent areas and ease of access to important highways. It was informed in the briefing that along with the construction of the road at Thadu Nallah, a bridge is also being constructed, which will help in reducing traffic problems in the area. Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, while reviewing all the projects on the spot, directed the concerned authorities to further accelerate the pace of construction work, complete the projects before the stipulated time and ensure the quality of construction at all costs. Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Hussain Shah said that the Sindh government is paying special attention to both the completion and quality of Karachi’s development projects. The aim of continuously reviewing various schemes on the spot is to directly monitor the speed and quality of work. Efforts are being made to complete the projects that can be completed before the stipulated time as soon as possible and provide convenience to the citizens. He said that work is underway on the construction and rehabilitation of many small and big roads in Karachi, while the Sindh government has provided funds for development projects. The relevant institutions including FWO have been given the responsibilities of important projects in Karachi and the government wants the fruits of these projects to reach the people soon. The Minister for Local Government said that improving the road infrastructure of Karachi is one of the government’s top priorities. Along with the construction of new roads, different areas are being connected to the M-9 Motorway, Super Highway and other important highways so that better travel facilities can be provided to the citizens keeping in mind the increasing population and traffic pressure. Nasir Hussain Shah said that Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has a clear vision of development and construction and the Sindh government is working on projects for public welfare and improvement of urban infrastructure under this vision. He said that steps are being taken to further empower local government institutions from the union council to the town level and the government wants the local government system to play a more effective role in providing basic facilities to the people. Regarding local government elections, he said that the holding of elections is under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission, the Sindh government wants that there is no unnecessary delay in the local government elections. On the question regarding petroleum levy, the Minister for Local Government said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also talked about abolishing petroleum levy, the people should get relief and convenience due to the increase in petrol prices. Talking about political matters, Nasir Hussain Shah said that violence is not the solution to any problem, political differences should be resolved democratically and peacefully. He said that political parties should focus on public issues and the difficulties faced by citizens. On this occasion, the Minister for Local Government directed the concerned officers to monitor the ongoing development projects on a daily basis, maintain both quality and speed in construction work and ensure that citizens do not have to wait unnecessarily for the completion of the projects. The government is trying to complete the ongoing development schemes in Karachi quickly and provide better road network and basic civic facilities in different areas of the city. Superintending Engineer Junaid Siddiqui, Director Estate and Enforcement Syed Zain Shah were also present during the visit. ‎ ‎
