Practical measures by KDA Director General Zain-ul-Abideen Ansari to make the Lines Area Parking Plaza operational and generate new sources of revenue.
Director General Karachi Development Authority Zainul Abidin Ansari has initiated important steps to make the inactive parking plaza located in the Lines Area active and make full use of it. The aim of this step is to make the inactive project functional again, promote business activities in the area, provide better facilities to the public and create sustainable sources of income for the institution. On this occasion, DG KDA Zainul Abidin Ansari said that the Lines Area Parking Plaza is an important project, which can be made useful for the residents and traders of the area through effective planning and administrative measures, but it can also play an important role in the financial improvement of the institution. In this regard, Member Finance KDA Naveed Anwar Siddiqui and Project Director Lines Area Resettlement Project (LARP) Muhammad Umar Farooq presented various suggestions. All the proposed measures will be presented to the Lines Area Resettlement Project Board for approval as per the rules and regulations, after which practical progress will be made under the approved plan. He further said that there are more than 159 shops and more than 120 offices in the parking plaza, which can be utilized under an effective management strategy to create new income opportunities. In this regard, the matter will be presented before the concerned board after reviewing the use, availability and future income potential of the relevant shops and offices, so that maximum benefit can be derived from these assets in accordance with the legal requirements and prescribed procedures. On this occasion, Project Director LARP Muhammad Umar Farooq, while briefing the DG, told that the auction of government properties in the parking plaza twice failed, due to which the shops and offices in the parking plaza fell into disrepair. We will have to work on new sources of income for the project soon. In this regard, various individuals and institutions have expressed interest in the government properties in the building. DG KDA issued instructions to Project LARP to submit workable proposals as soon as possible, which can increase the income of LARP. According to DG KDA Zainul Abideen Ansari, activating the parking plaza can help promote commercial activities in the area, create new employment opportunities and reduce traffic pressure through better management of vehicle parking. At the same time, new sources of revenue could also help resolve some of the administrative and financial difficulties faced by the Lines Area Resettlement Project, including issues related to salaries.
